Another confused AGW denier.

After reading a story on the Desmog blog today I followed the link to a letter that was written by a fellow in Surrey. The letter, which was written by an AGW denier, was factually incorrect. So I replied to it. Now I will have to wait and see if they publish it.

Here is the letter I sent.

In Response to Shrill environmentalists published on January 27th, 2008. Mr. Mac Savage claims that Al Gore is silent because he is busy shovelling snow in Toronto. What he thinks he knows, just aint so. For the past two evenings it has been raining in Toronto. The high temperature on January 28th was 1.7C and on the 28th it was 8.2C. Those temperatures occurred during the night, the time at which the low temperature should occur. The last day it snowed was on the 26th. However, the snow cover was barely noticeable and was definitely not worth shovelling. As for the $5 million wasted on carbon offsets, that money would have been better spent if the host nation simply invested in real carbon reduction technology that would be used at the Olympics. Carbon offsets are nothing more than “green washing”.

Alberta's lame ass "Green Plan".

Originally posted on the Desmog blog web site January 27, 2008.

We are all to blame for increasing CO2, from CEO’s and Prime Ministers to home makers and even our children.

However, openly telling the largest CO2 emitters in the country that they don't have to worry about reducing their emissions because someone else will do it for them is a slap in the face to every person who has already made changes to reduce their "carbon footprint".

I don’t know about you but I’m feed up with all levels of government telling me that I have to make changes, reductions and sacrifices when they and their corporate buddies are unwilling to do anything.

So here it is.

Just like the governments of the largest CO2 emitters in the world claim.
Until everybody is on board and is doing their part to make meaningful, real reductions in CO2 emissions I will no longer make further sacrifices in my already carbon reduced lifestyle so that some “fat cat” politician or CEO can enjoy a free ride at my expense.

Everybody must make changes if this is going to work. Government, big business, small business and everybody else must do their part to ensure that real, not cap and trade crap, reductions are made without overburdening any one group at the expense of another.

If we can not do this, then there is no hope that any one group will be able to carry the burden alone.

We will have then failed.

RE: Global Warming and Greenhouse Hot Air by H.V. Nussey

This is a reprint of a letter I sent to the editor of the Remnant newspaper today.

In response to H.V. Nussey’s article, Global Warming and Greenhouse Hot Air, I hope that I can open a few eyes to a dangerous deception being touted as fact by global warming deniers.

Once again an article has been written to refute the position that humanity is contributing to the global increase in average temperature. It is amazing and somewhat perplexing that the author of this article believes that the conclusions of the IPCC, a multinational scientific organization comprised of thousands of credible scientists, can be summarily dismissed with simple grade school math and misinformation. The overall message delivered by this latest attempt to convince us that human induced global warming is nothing more than a hoax is simply deceptive. The author has attempted to belittle the contributions of CO2 induced warming while maintaining that even if there was an increase in CO2 levels it would be to our benefit. He then uses the fallacy of solar warming as a lame excuse for the global increase in average temperature. Given that the sun has been experiencing a decline in solar activity for the past few years, the theory of solar induced global warming makes no sense, and has already been dismissed by credible scientists.

The utter lack of an understanding of basic global warming science shown in this article is unfortunate. However, Mr. Nussey is not entirely to blame. His use of faulty data, supplied by discredited scientists and organizations has led him to the wrong conclusions. We are not the sole cause of global warming, there are many contributing factors. However, we are contributing to an increase in its intensity. One only has only to look at the global environment to notice that something is not quite right.

Now I am waiting to see if the will actually print this letter.
The Remnant is a Christian newspaper that strongly believes that AGW doesn't exist.
